Many local Brazilians (Cariocas)
have bought a special license to
transport tourists specially during
Carnival time. Their cars are not
painted or have signs for taxi but they
have a special official tag to taxi
visitors. You can have their services as
personal cab and they can tour you where
ever you want to go. In our case Jairo,
friendly and helpful drives a
comfortable mini van. Fast, safe and on
time. Give an appointment date and time
and right on the dot he comes to taxi
you in front of your hotel/apartment.
On
my 2005 Carnival pages few fellows sent
me a request to pass them my contacts
for the apartments and drivers willing
to offer these services. After
their trip they wrote me their
